I'm convinced EVERYONE is fascinated by your hair, because it's glorious. They just don't say it unless they're drunk, because *some people* have decorum, ha!
I'm glad you found all those reasons to still be here. What I'm taking from this is: I need a girlfriend. Or a picturesque compost toilet.
It’s bizarre how people react to my hair! I get that it’s unique, but people always want to touch it. I have made my peace with it, but my younger self was horrified by all the attention.
I’m pretty sure that picturesque compost toilet gave me a dodgy tummy for a few days! But hey, it was a memorable experience 🙃
Clare, I love your list. I have been making my own lately. And you know what? It DOES feel a bit silly to record simple pleasures of everyday, but I believe it's indicative of our return to childhood--the innocence, the purity, the wonder. Isn't that what fuels creativity, anyway, the childlike awe, the ability to see the world around us as if for the first time? In that sense, none of what you wrote is silly at all. Simplicity can be quite profound, and it seems that what grounds us in ordinary ways also brings us back to ourselves somehow.
I think that one of the keys to a happy life is to retain a little of that childlike perspective on the world. Our brains naturally focus on and remember all the difficult, challenging things. But we should also make space for the small joys and pleasures of just being alive each day.
I'd love to read your list someday, if you ever feel inspired to share it. 💕
I loved reading your list🩷 It actually brought me to tears to read a list of your joy after staying here. Thank you for sharing!🩷 I think I have just the perfect prompt for journaling for morning pages tomorrow
