Thanks for sharing, as ever, Clare! I've also found the podcast Maintenance Phase incredibly good at tackling diet culture and reframing how I think about "fat".
I love that podcast! Have you see Your Fat Friend? It's a great documentary about Aubrey Gorden and I wish more people got to see it. It's available to stream online if you're interested.
I just want to send a huge hug for your struggling younger self! It must have be so hard to go through this. And again as always, thank you Clare for sharing this, it was eye-opening!🩷
It's a seminial book on trauma and it was very helpful to me when I first read it, so I hope you're finding it interesting and useful too, Julie. Thanks for your comment and presence here. I appreciate it 💕
A profoundly important topic. "Because being hungry felt safer" really struck a chord with me. I'm continually heartbroken as I read about how trauma and eating disorders have impacted others, but, thankfully, there is solace in knowing that I'm not alone. Thank you so much for sharing about your experience!❤️
Thank you Catherine 💕 I'm so glad to know that this piece resonated with you. It's comments like these that make me want to keep writing, even on the days that it feels difficult. Thank you so much for your kind support x
Thank you for sharing Clare. There’s so many intersections affecting one’s relationship with food, and eating and one’s body. I feel like we don’t talk enough about it. But it is getting a tiny bit better.
I think so too, Linn. The more we talk about the difficult, complex things around food and our bodies, the less alone we feel in our individual struggles.
Thanks so much for being here, and for your generous comment 💕

Thank you so much Mazsi. I really appreciate your kind support 💕
I’m currently listening to the audio version of The Body Keeps the Score. So many stories in it line up so well with yours. Trauma asks so much of us!
It sure does. I got a lot from that book, though there were a few things that felt off to me about it. I just read a thoughtful article about it, which might be of interest to you too: https://eminietfeld.substack.com/p/what-the-most-famous-book-about-trauma
